Beside Mysore Youth Forum’s continuous strength and determination, joined hands with them were students from the Mysore Medical College and locals in their next venture. Incidentally, the students of the Medical College, awakened by the Republic Day Spot fixing at Mission hospital, showed keen interest in the activities of the forum and put forth the details regarding the next spot-fixing event of the city. It was finalized that the Vishveshwariah circle (KR hospital, opp. Ayurveda College) need to undergo some changes. The reason why Medical students came forward regarding this initiative is clearly in order to provide good and neat surroundings for the pedestrians and the hospital patients. The main aim this time is to make sure that at least some sense of hygiene is instilled in the minds of people.
It was observed that travelers waiting for buses often relieve themselves on the walls of the hospital and college. Sanitation has become a major issue of concern around that area of the city. Adding to this, people nastily spit ‘paan’ or betlenut on the street. It is highly annoying and unfortunate when people don’t use the pay and use toilets made available especially for them.
It was a few weeks back that the forum had achieved their first successful spot-fixing and this is again another bright opportunity to do and show! The strategy involved in the fixing of the place was cleaning the entire place and painting the wall to give it a neat look.
